This is a free booklet offered by HUD's National Council on Aging. It is full of helpful tips and fact-filled information that will give you and your family a good overview about the pro's and con's of this type of mortgage... a great place to start. There are also some other valuable links offered by our government housing agencies to see if a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) or reverse mortgage is the right decision for you and your family.
Remember, knowledge is the key here folks, and there is a whole bunch of information online, not to mention counseling and workshops that are available to you absolutely free of charge. So Never Ever pay for these resources.
Keep in mind a reverse mortgage is a huge decision, so make sure you weigh all your options. Learn as much as you can before sitting down with any mortgage lender or financial institute that offers them.
